Studio Overview
Dance Classes
PSPA classes are all designed to give an aspiring dancer a
strong fundamental dance background in a fun and exciting atmosphere.
Every student studies Ballet, Tap and Jazz. Class time and length of
study is determined by a combination of age and technique of the
student. The health of our dancers is foremost in our thoughts; all
classrooms have wood sprung floors to prevent injury. Class size is
limited to twelve but must a have a minimum of five dancers. Our
Preschool through Elementary programs have class assistants in
addition to a teacher in every classroom providing plenty of individual
attention. Class time is focused on technique Sept through Feb. We begin
our performance choreography in March, combining skills learned and
perfected in class into our choreography showcasing our dancers growth.
Choreography and music are always age appropriate. PSPA
has an Open Viewing Policy, parents are free to view their childs
class each week or when their schedule allows. PSPA offers dance
programs in a variety of levels as outlined in the following link:

Performances
PSPA offers students with a desire to perform several opportunities
throughout the year. These include “in studio” performances, workshops,
community service events, and competitions (for Dance Team), and annual
June performance for the entire studio.
June Performance
We feel it is important to allow our young people
experience the entire theatre experience. Therefore we bring in a
professional video and light crew, use backdrops and props as one might
see in a professional show. PSPA rents a theatre for the entire week
allowing our dancers the benefit of rehearsing at least twice before
performing. PSPA believes once dancers are comfortable with their new
surroundings they can focus on their inner artist and perform! Our stage
crew is a combination of professionals and volunteer parents. There are
no performance or rehearsals fees for students. All dancers are
required to attend rehearsal week. Students unable to attend are unable
to perform.
Community Involvement
Since our beginnings, PSPA has always both encouraged and been actively
involved in community events throughout the South Shore. Students at
all levels are provided periodic opportunities to perform at (or
contribute to) various community events throughout the year.
Individual Growth
Dance is an expressive and artistic means of communication for all ages.
We strive to nurture and challenge that spirit as well as the
individual. We provide many opportunities for our dancers to develop
their leadership skills in and out of the classroom and to become more
involved in the theatre arts. There are class assistants, performance
crew, and stage craft opportunities as well as open house volunteer
positions. There are community positions available for older students
and parents annually through the Pembroke Arts Festival and other
associations. Students are encouraged to participate by sharing their
love of dance and theatre at community and school talent shows as well
as special events within their towns. Whenever possible will share
unscheduled studio time free of charge to support our dancers in their
endeavors. We are also available to assist their Scouting Troups with
the necessary Arts and Theatre requirements need to successfully obtain
badges and recognition. PSPA has also implemented a Dance Scholarship
with the Pembroke Arts Festival to support a graduating senior
majoring in Dance. Application and details to follow.
Scholarships and Payment Plans – PSPA was founded with the belief
that ALL children with the desire should have the opportunity to
experience the performing arts and be able to explore and develop
without the inhibition of financial hardship. We continue to offer
scholarships and flexible payment plans to those in need. Please inquire
in confidence with Miss Kathleen should you have the need for these
services, and we will work to ensure your child is not deprived of this
opportunity.
